A daffodil tea with a twist raised over £2000 towards works to modernise Fyvie Guide House.

The spring themed tipsy tea party which took place in Turriff Baden Powell Community Hall was a sell-out success with around 90 guests attending from across Aberdeenshire.

As well as cocktails and a tasty afternoon tea, revellers enjoyed an afternoon of games, music and other fun while catching up with people they haven't seen in a while.

A spokesperson for Girlguiding Gordon said: "Huge thanks to all who attended and supported our Daffy Afternoon Tea.

"We raised over £2500 towards the refurbishment plans for Fyvie Guide House.

"Amazing!"

Built as a hospital in 1879, the building was taken over by local Guiding groups in 1967 and became Fyvie Guide House.

It is now used primarily by Girlguiding groups of all ages from across the north-east for residential trips, and is a much-loved facility by local groups.

The venue has been undergoing a number of refurbishments in recent years to both improve accessibility and ensure that the facility meets the needs of young people in the 21st century.

To date these have included redecorating, upgrading bathroom and kitchen facilities and purchasing new furniture and soft furnishings.

The coal fire has also been replaced by a wood stove.

The Fyvie Guide House Management Committee, a conglomerate of volunteers from Girlguiding Gordon and Girlguiding Banff and Buchan, are hoping to build an extension to the dining room to allow more space for both dining and the many other memory-making activities which regularly take place there.

The venue was forced to cancel numerous bookings due to the coronavirus pandemic, but was able to permit the use of the grounds of Fyvie Guide House briefly last summer before restrictions eased enough to allow groups to return to holding indoor residential visits.
