As work proceeds with the redevelopment of the Grade A listed pavilion building at the Tarlair outdoor swimming pool site at Macduff, residents and visitors should be advised of a temporary road closure on High Shore/Tarlair Road which will prevent vehicular access to the site.

The Friends of Tarlair Community Group, who are undertaking the works, have advised that their contractors will be installing services to the pavilion over an eight-week period starting on Monday, April 22.

A spokesperson for Aberdeenshire Council said: “As utilities are being taken down Tarlair Road to the site and there is no alternative but to close this section to allow works to be carried out safely. The road closure will start after the junction for Newton Drive on High Shore and while it should last no more than eight weeks it will re-open sooner if possible. We understand that Tarlair is a popular location and we apologise for any inconvenience, but please observe the closure. Pedestrian access along High Shore/Tarlair Road will be maintained, however access may be disrupted so our advice is to try to avoid the area altogether during this period. This is a complex site but good progress is being made on the pavilion and the long-terms benefits will hopefully more than make up for any short-term inconvenience. It is hoped that works on the building will be completed in the autumn.”
