Tales of Bennachie on the Colony Trail

TALES, trails and tunes featured in a lively family day hosted by the Bailies of Bennachie as part of the Year of Stories 2022 on the mountain on Saturday.

Visitors, young, not so young, dogs and ponies made their way along the colony trail stopping off to hear folk tales and songs and just some of the colourful history of Bennachie.

At Cairn Couttie Sarah Beattie-Cook on fiddle and Charlie Abel, accordion entertained passers-by.

Doric story-teller Jackie Ross held her audience spell-bound with vivid tales at the Gowk stane.

Many hikers made it to the topmost Mither Tap and came down with damp hair and clothing after passing through the clouds.

Said Bailies vice-chair Anne Baillie: "We hope we have offered our visitors a better understanding of the history, wildlife and climate of Bennachie."
