The Hill That Was A Home – a moving drama by playwright Alan Bissett – has had a spectacular run of success with tickets sold out for the five-day performances at the Garioch Heritage Centre in Inverurie.

Commissioned by Bailies of Bennachie as part of their 50th anniversary celebrations, it has been performed by the Mitchell School of Drama, which is celebrating its 40th milestone.

Directed by founder Rhona Mitchell with musical direction from Alistair Sneddon the cast included present and past students.

The young actors vividly conveyed the poignant history of the 19th century Bennachie colonists who managed to carve out a living before being forcibly evicted by the landowners who took over their spartan homes.

Ably spoken and sung in Doric and English, the play is a celebration of local history and language.

The actors polished their performance for many weeks and clearly formed a tight unit of talent.
