Global line-up as XpoNorth conference goes digital

THIS year's XpoNorth conference has announced an inspiring line-up of culture movers and shakers for its first ever digital edition.

The creative industries conference, on June 24 and 25, will feature more than 60 speakers giving their takes on the key themes emerging across the creative industries, heritage and digital sectors.

Iain Hamilton, head of creative industries at Highland and Islands Enterprise, said: "In under 11 weeks the XpoNorth team have worked tirelessly to reimagine the usual conference as this new digital offering.

"The outstanding line-up is truly international and I urge anyone involved in the creative industries to pre-register for tickets so we can meet as one to share and learn together how to best drive true innovation in the creative sector."

Speakers include Trend Bible forecaster Naomi Pollard, who will look ahead at lifestyle trends post-pandemic and how the current crisis might shape the way people feel and behave.

Those with an interest in writing and publishing will have a chance to hear broadcaster and author Sally Magnusson in conversation with literary agent Jenny Brown on a range of topics, from the author/agent relationship to the challenges and rewards of writing historical fiction.

The XpoNorth 2020 conference will take to the digital stage this month.

There will also be an opportunity to hear from the senior vice-president of A&R at Concord Music Publishing, Jeremy Yohai, who will talk on the science and passion behind creating hit songs and getting them to the international stage.

The conference will culminate with a keynote speech from Edinburgh-born producer Richard Brown – the driving force behind HBO’s globally successful series, True Detective. He has served as executive producer on all three seasons of the critically acclaimed show.

Delegates will also have access to training spaces, networking and specialist advice sessions, as well as pre-event workshops including a private-pitch session for publishers to connect with a panel of producers looking for the next book to option.
