Much-loved Moray folk festival Speyfest will put talented artisans, crafters and entertainers centre-stage between Friday, June 21 and Sunday, July 23.

On top of a jam-packed musical lineup, the newly-announced activities programme has something for all ages, abilities and tastes – with local food and drink at the forefront.

One of the weekend event's top attractions will be the return of festival afternoon teas on Saturday, June 22.

Soundtracking the delicious food with a special acoustic set will be top Gaelic-crossover singer-songwriter Norrie MacIver, also of Skipinnish fame.

A selection of bakes will be on offer, paired with Roehill Springs Gin and Glen Moray Whisky and the option to upgrade to a prosecco afternoon tea experience.

At Fochabers Public Institute on Saturday afternoon, festival goers will have the opportunity to sample and learn about outstanding local drinks at tasting sessions with Spey Valley Beer, Roehill Springs Gin and Glen Moray Whisky.

Talented local artists will be on hand offering free children’s entertainment across the weekend, with Highland Artisans running arts and crafts sessions where wee ones can craft and decorate their own bird boxes – as well as providing ever-popular face painting and glitter tattoos.

Fox and Friends Highland will also be hosting Fox’s Tales interactive story telling sessions, bringing some magic to the youngest Speyfest attendees.

Speyfest chairperson Ashleigh Macgregor said: “We’re so proud to be able to showcase the best that Speyside has to offer at this year’s festival, from food and drink to entertainment and music.

"It’s a fantastic opportunity for festival goers from further afield to get a taste of what we’re all about in the North East, and for locals to discover the quality being produced on their doorstep.

“Spaces for these activities are limited so if there’s something you like the look of, I would encourage you to book your places now to avoid disappointment – we can’t wait to see you there!”

First held in 1995, Speyfest has grown from a local event with one small tent holding around 300 people, to a 1500-capacity festival and much-loved jewel in the traditional music calendar in the north-east.

General tickets for Speyfest 2023, as well as tickets for individual activities, are on sale now.
