Specsavers seeking to open new shop in Fraserburgh

Specsavers has got its eye on opening a potential new branch in Fraserburgh town centre.
The national firm has applied to Aberdeenshire Council for permission to change the use of an existing building on Broad Street.
It is looking to take over the shop currently used by charity Stella’s Voice.
The humanitarian charity opened its Fraserburgh shop last year, selling a range of second-hand goods to raise money for its efforts here and abroad.
It also has a shop on Aberdeen’s King Street and its popular superstore The Barn located at Inverugie on the outskirts of Peterhead.
Stella’s Voice moved into the Broad Street unit after clothing chain M&Co closed its doors for the final time in August 2020.
Floor plans show the new Broch Specsavers branch would have five consultation rooms and essential optical facilities including an autorefractor on the ground floor.
A dedicated area will be set aside for customers to try contact lenses.
Audiology services will also be available offering customers hearing tests and hearing aid fittings.
There will also be a retail area with a selection of frames to browse and a waiting area for customers to use ahead of their appointments.
Meanwhile, a staff room, storage space and a meeting room will be found on the first floor.
The nearest Specsavers branches to Fraserburgh can be found in Peterhead, Ellon and Inverurie, and the optician is currently looking to open a second store in Aberdeen.
