MEMBERS of the community are being invited to a fundraising event at Longmore Hall.

Keith and District Silver Band, who meet in the hall every Sunday, are set to put on a show called Stage and Screen to raise money for The Archie Foundation.

The concert was the brainchild of band member Rebecca Cheyne, from Rothiemay, who is a regular fundraiser for the charity.

She said: “I mentioned last September that I would like to have a concert raising money for the Archie Foundation and the band were very keen to support and help.

"Having volunteered for Archie for a number of years, there has been a significant rise in the number of referrals for the Child Bereavement Service – something I feel passionately about.

"I’m grateful to the band and the support from the community has been fantastic.”

Lynne Brooks, partnership manager for The Archie Foundation, said: "We are delighted that Keith and District Silver Band are supporting us in this way and really looking forward to the concert.

"We support the children’s unit in Dr Gray’s, Elgin, as well as Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital and Aberdeen Neonatal.

"Children in Moray also benefit from the work of Archie’s Child Bereavement Service, who support children who have lost a loved one."

The show will take place on Saturday, April 22, at 7pm. Tickets, available on the door, are £10 for adults, £6 for concessions and £2 for children.

Songs from movies such as Jesus Christ Superstar, Harry Potter, Shrek and Rocky will be played, with a new conductor – Matt Bailey – leading for the band.

There will be a raffle and a talk from Paula Cormack, the CEO of The Archie Foundation, about the charity's work in the local area.

The band are always looking for more players. For further information, visit www.keithsilverband.org or contact rebeccacheyne@hotmail.co.uk
