Sewer works lead to Inverurie main route closure

Drivers heading into Inverurie from the Oldmeldrum direction are being warned that temporary restrictions will be in place on the B9170 Oldmeldrum Road, Inverurie from February 5 for the installation of new sewers.

A temporary one-way system will be in place southbound only from the junction with Souterford Avenue to the junction with Station Road from February 5 for two weeks.

There will be a subsequent five-day road closure from the junction with Inverurie Garden Centre to the junction with Souterford Avenue starting on February 19.

A formal diversion will be in place via the North Link Road to the B9001, B9001 to North Street, Inverurie, North Street to West High Street, West High Street to Market Place, Market Place to Oldmeldrum Road.

Access will be provided to West High Street Garage and the retail park at all times.

Access (indicated by the dotted blue line) will be provided for vehicles going to properties on Souterford Road and Oldmeldrum Road but this may be subject to delay until the road is cleared of construction plant to allow safe passage through the works.

A spokesperson for Aberdeenshire Council said: "We appreciate that essential works such as these can cause some inconvenience to road users, but we would ask that you be patient and, above all, please be respectful of the contractors undertaking these works."
