This year’s Remembrance Sunday in Turriff on November 8 will be very different from usual, but just as meaningful. Church capacity restrictions under Covid means there will be no community service in St Andrew’s Church, nor a parade and wreath laying ceremony to follow at the War Memorial.

Wreaths will be laid throughout the course of Sunday.

Instead, to maximise capacity, the three Turriff churches, St Andrew’s, St Congan’s and St Ninian’s and Forglen will each be holding their own services.

As it is Rev Kevin Gruer’s year to be chaplain for the Remembrance service, St Ninian’s and Forglen Church will be welcoming to their service several members of the Turriff branch of Royal British Legion Scotland including three standard bearers, plus a few representatives from the 2nd Turriff Compnay Boys’ Brigade.

Although the church service is already fully booked, anyone who wishes to, can watch the service live on Youtube, or later on catchup, simply by going to www.youtube.com and searching there for ‘St Ninian’s and Forglen Church’.

The Legion's wreaths will be laid individually, at the layers discretion throughout the day, strictly adhering to social distancing regulations and current guidelines.
