Scotland’s sheep farmers have been busier than ever, innovating, evolving their businesses and enhancing the natural environment - and the awards are a great opportunity to showcase all their hard work.

Entries for the award will remain open until Monday, August 17, with all sheep farmers and individuals involved in the industry encouraged to nominate farms they believe deserve the industry-recognised title of Scottish Sheep Farm of the Year.

The selection process will involve a panel of three experienced judges who will face the challenge of narrowing down the entries across Scotland to only three finalists.

The finalists will then have the opportunity to host the judges at their respective farms at the beginning of September.

Bruce McConachie, Head of Industry Development at QMS, said: “The Scottish sheep sector is an incredibly passionate industry with farmers across the country working tirelessly to improve efficiency and highlight innovation.

"The Scottish Sheep Farm of the Year award is their chance to showcase the work they’ve been doing to help push the industry forward and inspire others to follow suit. I would encourage all eligible candidates to apply and have their stories heard.”

Speaking of being crowned last year, Calum McDiarmid of Mains of Murthly Farm in Aberfeldy, said: “The AgriScot award came as a bit of a surprise to us.

"There’s a lot of people doing great things in the industry, and we try to do the right thing here and find systems that work for us.

"We’re always trying to refine practices and make our jobs easier. I suppose that’s what attracted the judges to what we do here.”
