Scotland's Rural College (SCRUC) launch free food and drink event for north east businesses, taking place at Aberdeen's Craibstone campus later this month

NORTH east businesses interested in learning about innovative food-and-drink research are invited to a free event later this month.

The Gateway to Food & Drink Innovation showcase event is being held by Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC) and SAC Consulting at SRUC's Craibstone campus in Aberdeen.

The free event, taking place on Friday 18 November, will showcase leading research in the food and drink industry, provide information about future innovation in the north east and discuss potential collaboration opportunities for local businesses.

Andrew Lacey, Vice Principal, Commercial and Head of SAC Consulting, said: “From meat, fish and plant-based protein, food safety and quality processing production, emerging technologies, and political drivers, to innovative food and drink product development, food and drink is very much a focus at SRUC.

“If you’re a food and drink business, this event will give you a better understanding of how SRUC and SAC Consulting can help you and we will also showcase some examples of products that we have helped to develop.”

The event, which is being held in the library and event space at SRUC Craibstone, will run from 10am to 12.30pm on Friday 18 November, followed by lunch until 1.30pm. To book your place, visit: https://bit.ly/SRUCFoodandDrinkEvent

Opportunity North East (ONE) will also join SRUC at the event to provide an update on the transformational SeedPod centre of excellence for food and drink manufacturing, which will put businesses at the forefront of innovation, productivity and sustainability, increasing high-value exports and creating new jobs.

SeedPod, which will be located on the Craibstone campus, recently received £3.1 million of Scottish Government funding via the Just Transition Fund and is due to open in 2024.
