The continuing TV series Scotland’s Greatest Escape is all about getting more bang for your buck as the judges visit ‘Budget Friendly’ abodes in the upcoming episode this week.

With the focus on affordability, judges Fiona Campbell and Zakia Moulaoui Guery travel to Balnagown Estate, a sprawling Highland escape close to Inverness.

Offering a variety of self-catering accommodation to suit all budgets, the Balnagown Estate has a castle at its heart with a range of free on-site activities including cycling, gyms and wildlife watching.

Next up, the judges make their way to Shepherd’s Loch Glamping near Turriff in Aberdeenshire.

Located on a working farm five miles from the Banffshire coast, the six very different cabins are all made from recycled and reclaimed materials.

Popular with families and larger groups, Shepherd’s Loch Glamping also regularly hosts a free communal BBQ where guests can come together and socialise.

While Fiona and Zakia settle into two of the properties on the site – The Wheelhouse and The Dragonfly – Grado turns his hand at herding sheep with owner Jamie and his son Alexander.

The final ‘Budget Friendly’ escape is The Bus Stop in East Lothian. A unique self-catering experience, The Bus Stop has a range of vintage buses all transformed into cosy, comfortable lodges with modern amenities whilst retaining their nostalgic appeal.

Grado chats to owners Balfour and son Sandy about the inspiration behind their business while Fiona and Zakia tuck into Afternoon Tea along with The Bus Stop’s friendly Pigmy goats.

The Balnagown Estate, Shepherd’s Loch Glamping and The Bus Stop all hope they have what it takes to win the ‘Budget Friendly’ category and head to the Scotland’s Greatest Escape grand finale.

Narrated by Dawn Steele, Scotland’s Greatest Escape airs on BBC Scotland on Wednesday, March 13 at 8pm.
