A costume which is on display at the Garioch Heritage Centre as part of the current Sci-Fi Encounters exhibition had organisers scratching their heads as to its origin.

While an authenticated prop, the owners could not identify which series or film it appeared in .

In an effort to track down a potential lead, the Heritage Centre took to social media to use the collective memory of the public to find out

They said: "We have a mystery on our hands!

"As part of our Sci-Fi Encounters exhibition, we were supplied with this costume.

"No one knows (including the company who own it) what film/series or character it belongs to!

"The owners are offering a prize for anyone who can help identifying it."

Responses were quick to come, with the puzzle being shared amongst fans of various TV and film series.

Several respondents pointed out that it bore an incredible similarity to a costume used in the Gene Rodenberry series Andromeda.

Further discussion pointed to an online resource https://andromeda.fandom.com/wiki/Biological_Armor where the costume can be seen laid out.

Sci-fi Encounters runs until Sunday, August 14 and tickets can be purchased from the Centre or on Eventbrite.
