Insch Golf Club will hold a fundraiser later this year to help improve the facilities for members.

The club is need of a rough mower and is organising a Tri-Insch event on Sunday, September 1.

The format is its own version of the Ryder Cup. It will feature two men/women teams competing for the prize and it promises to be something different to the usual opens.

Kevin Stuart the reigning gents champion of the club is leading the fundraising effort for this event and his company, Kevin M Stuart Electrical is sponsoring the prizes.

Kevin has been involved with the golf c since he was a boy, coming up through the categories since being a junior.

His mum Sheila was the bar steward and helped run the club for many years. His sister Lynn was ladies captain from 2004 to 2006, and his dad Ron has played at the course for more years than he would care to remember.

Kevin said: "Now is the time more than ever to support your local clubs.

"We all know of the rising costs we have at home, it is no different for the golf clubs, probably worse.

"If you can volunteer, take part in opens, use the bar and catering, just play your course and support your club then hopefully they will all still be here in years to come for our kids to be juniors and grow up in a family atmosphere like I did and continue to do."

The day will consist of first six holes, alternative shot, second six, better ball, final six and individual contests.

The prize for first handicap and scratch is £300; second handicap is £200 and third Handicap is £100. The entry goes live on March 1.

Jack McPherson will be playing music from 4pm on the day.
