A sunny Saturday should have seen dozens of runners welcomed to Methlick for what would have been the 10th annual Methlick FUNd Run on Saturday.

Instead, with the current restrictions, many took to their own local streets and roads to take part with individual runs.

Amongst them was event organiser Stuart Kennedy who said: "Yesterday (Saturday) should have seen the hosting of our 10th Methlick FUNd Run.

"Though we couldn't go ahead with the event this year my son Robert and I did, starting the run at 10am, in the blazing sunshine, supported by family members Michelle and Cliona on bikes.

"It certainly wasn't the same, without the usual faces and the camaraderie of fellow runners and walkers, but it was still good knowing we could do our bit to help the children being cared for by New Life Homes which helps with rescuing and caring for abandoned babies across Kenya

"And we weren't the only ones running.

"A number of those who would have been participating have been in touch via email and facebook to share their own run experiences and it's great to know others are still doing the Methlick' FUNd Run, despite the lockdown and despite not running in Methlick.

"We've also had further donations and sponsors via the Virgin Giving Page and the total is now sitting at around £400, with another £100-£150 pledged.

"This is absolutely fantastic, and a huge thankyou to everyone who has donated.

"Your generosity and kindness is truly amazing.

The virgin giving page will remain open for a few more weeks, so if you would like to donate please do.
