Fraserburgh Rotary Club have recently stepped in to help a local surfer who has big ambitions.

Fraserburgh's Callie Cruickshank is already the Scottish Under 16 Surfing Champion however, at just 11 years old, she is too young to qualify for most of the usual range of grants that can assist young people with sporting talent and ambition, like the SportsAid Scotland Scheme.

With intentions of representing Scotland at the European Junior Surfing Championships in Portugal later this year, Callie has been looking for help to make this dream a reality.

The group became aware of her dilemma and decided to award Callie a grant of £500.

Fraserburgh Rotary are delighted to help this young talent along the way to future stardom by funding her participation in the necessary training camps to make her European dream a reality.

Anybody with an interest in surfing who would like to support Callie can also cheer her on at the Scottish Junior National Surfing Championships in Fraserburgh on October 1 and 2.

Fraserburgh Rotarians John Buchan, Ann Bell and Bob Watt presented Callie Cruickshank with a donation from the club.
