Ellon Rotary Club's Emmerdale fundraiser brings in £7000 for Charlie House

Members of Ellon Rotary Club have donated £7000 to Charlie House following a star-studded fundraiser earlier this year.

In May the group hosted a Backstage Dinner in the town's Station Hotel, where diners could enjoy the company of Emmerdale cast members Chris Chittell, Lawrence Robb and senior production manager Nader Mabadi.

Guests were treated to a special musical performance from Mr Robb as well learning more about life behind the scenes on the soap and catching up on the latest storyline gossip.

The event raised £7000, which will go towards the charity's Big Build Appeal.

The Big Build Appeal was launched in 2018 aiming to raise £8,000,000 to build a dedicated support centre for north-east families of young people with life limiting or life threatening conditions who currently have to travel over 100 miles to receive the specialised support which they need.

Set within four acres of land at Woodend Hospital, the eight-bedroom facility will provide vital support, services, respite and end of life care.

Proposals feature state-of-the-art spaces including a sensory room, spa pool, craft room, soft play area and therapy room.

Charlie House, founded in 2011, strives to improve the quality of life for young people living in the north-east with life limiting or life threatening conditions and their families.
