Ross takes delivery charge fight to new committee

MORAY MP Douglas Ross has been invited to join a new parliamentary network set up by the Advertising Standards Authority, the independent regulator of advertising across all media.
The new group aims to strengthen the work done by parliamentarians and the ASA.
Mr Ross said: “I am delighted to accept this opportunity and I look forward to continuing to work with the ASA to fight against companies who impose rip-off delivery charges for people in Moray simply because of their postcode.
“Since I was elected, constituents have been contacting me by email, post and at my regular surgeries about the excess delivery charges that companies add just because of where we live.
"I have worked very closely with the ASA, and on many occasions they have acted on the information we’ve provided and put a stop to misleading and discriminatory charges from certain companies, but there is still more to do.
“By alerting the ASA to many of the excessive charges for delivery to Moray, I have worked closely with them on a number of cases so I’m pleased they have asked me to join this network to allow us to continue this work on behalf of local people in Moray and residents across the country.”
Inviting Mr Ross to join the parliamentary network, Guy Parker, ASA chief executive, said: “With your campaign to protect consumers from misleading parcel delivery ads and your engagement with us about it, I would value your membership of our network.”
The ASA parliamentary network has been established to provide an opportunity for parliamentarians who have a particularly strong interest in advertising regulation to be more closely involved in the work the ASA does.
