ISSUES with the roof – made worse by recent weather – have led to a reduction of beds at Huntly's Jubilee Hospital.

The number of inpatient beds available at the facility has been reduced to eight. It's usually around the 18 mark.

An NHS Grampian spokesperson confirmed the temporary measure.

"There have been problems with the roof, exacerbated by the various episodes of poor weather we've had over the last year, so some of the accommodation at the hospital isn't suitable for in-patient use," the spokesperson confirmed.

"The hospital has reduced the number of inpatient beds temporarily – to eight."

There are reports that some locals have been sent to Chalmers Hospital in Banff, instead of Jubilee Hospital.

The NHS spokesperson added: "We always try to get people as close to home as possible.

"However, the current pressure on beds means that is not always something we can manage."
