TWO well-known Moray figures have been recognised in the New Year Honours List for 2022.
William 'Bill' Robertson, executive chairman of Robertson Group, and Motor Neurone Disease campaigner Lucy Smith, formerly Lintott, have been named in the list.
Mr Robertson, who was already a CBE, has been knighted for services to the construction industry and to charity in Scotland.
He formed Robertson Group in Elgin in 1966 as a joinery business, with his brother Bobby the sole employee.
The company now employs more than 3200 people and turns over millions of pounds every year.
Lucy Smith, who's from Garmouth and lives in Elgin, has received a BEM for her voluntary services to Motor Neurone Disease Research.
After being diagnosed with the disease at 19 years old, Lucy was told she was only likely to live for another 18 months.
However, she has gone on to give birth twice – something that is believed to be a world first for someone with Motor Neurone Disease – and marry her partner Tommy.
A BBC documentary called Being Mum with MND, which aired in May, told Lucy's incredible story.
It was the second documentary – after 2017's BBC programme MND and 22-Year-Old Me – to cover her life living with MND.

Moray's Conservative MP Douglas Ross described the awards as "richly deserved".
He said: “While famous figures often grab the headlines when it comes to the New Year’s Honours List, it also always gives time to rightly recognise local people who have been rewarded with honours.
“This year’s awards are no different with two very well-known Moray figures rightly rewarded for their endeavours in their respective fields.
"I am absolutely delighted that Bill Robertson will now become a Sir and Lucy Lintott has been rewarded with a British Empire Medal. Both honours are richly deserved."
A total of 1107 people were named on the Honours List, with 305 receiving a BEM, 431 being made an MBE and 219 an OBE.
