Huntly Double Dairy Gold wins listing in national Scotmid competition

ICE Cream made by James Rizza & Sons in Huntly has won a Scotmid Scottish favourites national listing

James Rizza & Sons from Huntly is one of five Scottish food and drink producers to win a key promotional listing slot for a three-week period in 2022 across Scotmid’s 200 Scottish sites.

The Scotmid Scottish Favourites competition, run in conjunction with Scotland Food & Drink, aims to highlight the best regional products with broad consumer appeal.

The slot won by Rizza's is for its Double Dairy Gold 500ml.

Other successful firms are, The Buffalo Farm, Strathmore Foods, The Caledonian Cola Company and Thistly Cross Cider.

Donald Morrison, director at James Rizza & Sons, said: “As a fourth-generation, family-run ice cream manufacturer now into our 107th year, we are absolutely delighted to be selected as one of the winners for Scotmid Scottish Favourites. We pride ourselves in sourcing local ingredients such as fresh milk and cream. Our winning product, Double Dairy Gold, compliments any occasion, whether on its own or with an extra treat! We look forward working with Scotmid after what has been a challenging 18 months for everyone.”

The competition which was launched during Scottish Food & Drink Fortnight in September was designed to champion local producers and demonstrates Scotmid’s commitment to Scottish sourcing. It received over 50 entries from local businesses which were each judged by a panel of experts.
