Rhynie Gala to roar back this summer

RHYNIE Gala is to guarantee fun for the whole family later this month with a weekend of activities.

This year, the time-honoured event has a packed calendar of events for all ages.

Starting gala proceedings, on Friday, August 18, are two kids discos.

Featuring wee ones from preschool to Primary Three, the first will take place from 6pm to 7pm, followed by the Primary Four to 14-years-old disco from 7.30pm to 9.30pm.

There will be a tuck shop and a photo booth on site.

Saturday, August 19, will see the return of the much-loved Gala Day from 1pm to 5pm.

Entertainment includes the Huntly and District Pipe Band, Tap O' Noth Hill race, Junior Hill Race, the Jessiman School of Dance, Insch Fire Station, a woodcarver, races, a Buckin’ Bronco, bouncy castles and a play theme tent.

Local stallholders will also be featuring their wares, and a bottle stall will be available for those feeling lucky.

There will also be food provided by a tea tent and Fish ‘n’ Chips 2 Go.

A wide range of competitions will also see the area's best face off across baking, crafts, flowers and vegetable categories.

On Saturday evening doors open at 7.30 pm for the Family Quiz Night.

There will be musical guests as well as cash prizes for the winners.

There will also be a licensed bar open until late.

Teams are to be made of 6 people with a maximum of 4 adults and booking is required at £10 a table.
