The Cher Show has exploded onto the stage of His Majesty's Theatre in Aberdeen this week, and audiences are lapping up every note.

The musical features an incredible 35 songs and sees modern day Cher looking back on her life and trying to guide her younger self through all of the ups and the downs of love, fame and inner demons.

The three performers portraying Cher at different times in her life - Millie O'Connell, Danielle Steers and Debbie Kurup - are great actresses but more importantly are incredibly powerful singers.

Each rendition of the legendary singer brings the audience along for the ride on the rollercoaster of emotion, from the highest highs to the lowest of lows as they watch her rebuild her crumbled world again and again.

I have to admit I had never realised just how much resilience and strength Cher has shown in her life to be where she is today.

The supporting actors playing the roles of other key people in the icon's life - including her mum, designer Bob Mackie and her partners Sonny, Greg and Rob - as well as the ensemble do a fantastic job of completing the story.

The costume department deserve their own special mention not only because of the volume of outfits on the stage throughout the show, but because somehow every outfit seems to be even more impressive than the last one.

The Cher Show is a high energy performance bursting at the seams with sparkles, bright lights, big notes and sass - everything which one would expect from the overwhelming glow of a stardom like that of someone as timeless as Cher.

They ask you to hold your singing for the end and with such a well known catalogue of songs this can be hard sometimes, but there will be plenty of opportunity at the end to sing and dance along to Cher's biggest hits.

It is worth noting that this show involves flashing lights, strobe and fog and there are signs around the theatre advising of this.

The Cher Show is in Aberdeen until Saturday, October 8, and for more information and tickets you can visit the Aberdeen Performing Arts box office.
