It is a truth universally acknowledged that the audience in Aberdeen must be in want of a night of endless laughter...and Pride And Prejudice* (*Sort Of) is delivering just that.

This week's offering at His Majesty's Theatre is Pride And Prejudice* (*Sort Of), a show commissioned for the Tron Theatre in Glasgow which has gone on to take theatres across the country by storm.

It depicts Jane Austin's classic love story in a way you've probably never seen before...through the eyes of the servants.

All of the key characters are present as they fight to find their own version of love, navigating a few hurdles along the way and expressing their feelings in the only appropriate way for high society - karaoke.

The cast of five - Tori Burgess, Christina Gordon, Hannah Jarrett-Scott, Isobel McArthur and Leah Jamieson - do a fantastic job of bringing multitudes of characters to life with each one clearly defined through distinctive costumes and (questionable) accents.

Freshly graduated Leah, who's primary role is that of Elizabeth Bennett, is definitely one to watch out for in the future as she commands the stage and makes sure it's not only Mr Darcy's eyes on her.

The show boasts thoroughly thought out costuming, sets and props which heighten the Sort Of Austin experience.

The laughs start before the lights have gone down as the cast ensure Pride And Prejudice* (*Sort Of) is an immersive experience for the audience, bringing them into the servant's quarters of 18th century high society.

A fairly long show at over two hours, time flies as the cast deliver regular punchlines and silliness without overdoing it and becoming grating.

No matter how familiar you are with Austin's novel, you will always be left wondering what is coming next as Pride And Prejudice* (*Sort Of) provides an evening of light relief in the midst of a world of seemingly endless gloom.

Pride And Prejudice* (*Sort Of) is treading the boards of Aberdeen's His Majesty's Theatre until Saturday, October 15.
