Boos, cheers and yells echoing around the Inverurie Town Hall auditorium can mean only one thing - Inverurie Panto is back again!

This year the group bring you Dick Whittington, the classic tale of a young country lad seeking his fortune in the big city.

Accompanied by his talking cat companion Garioch, Dick (Cara Sutherland) finds himself faced with nothing but disappointment and disaster...until Garioch's skills prove their worth in.

Despite being considered a smaller production than many Inverurie continues to hold its own against the 'big pantos' with an outstanding cast, impeccable script and no shortage of laughs.

Such is their dedication to putting on a high quality production that they hired a professional puppeteer from London to come and train Garioch's human (Emmah Chibesakunda), and the level of extra effort really shows through in the puppet's performance.

Endless comedy - both scripted and not - is provided, of course, by dame Sarah The Cook (Gavin Mackay) and loyal - albeit a bitty glaikit - best friend Jack who's work well together to keep the audience entertained and ensure there's never a dull moment.

Returning cast member Sarah Smith makes an adorable love interest as Alice Fitzwarren.

The villainous King Rat (Kevin Littlejohn) may just steal the show with his wicked ways, however.

With opening night nerves a distant memory, the fun, silliness and festive cheer is sure to only grow as the show goes on.

An array of musical numbers ensure that Dick Whittington provides a couple of hours of lively entertainment, with a fun song (and an optional, but undeniable, dance) near the end for everybody to join in with of course.

Inverurie Panto continues to offer a fantastic show made all the better without the hassle (or cost!) of travelling into Aberdeen, and the north-east continues to show their support - oh yes they do!
