Ellon firefighters made a very special presentation when they gathered for their Christmas tour fundraiser last week.

Crew members presented Santa Claus (who has been spotted in Ellon throughout the year disguised as Robert Smith) with a special gift to mark his retirement.

He has served with the Scottish Fire And Rescue Service for 27 years.

Unfortunately the icy weather meant that Santa's tour - which sees him take to the streets of Ellon and surrounding communities accompanied by a festively decorated fire engine - had to be cut short.

Despite this Santa has still successfully raised almost £2000 (with money still trickling in), and brought much joy to families who were lucky enough to see him.

Long service awards were presented to three other Ellon fire crew members in November in recognition of their continued dedication.

They were: Raymond Forsyth for 30 years, crew commander Craig Grassick for 20 years and watch commander Dennis Chalmers for 20 years.
