A NEW bench unveiled at Keith Grammar School will honour the memory of a much-loved former pupil.
Kai Anderson, who lived in the town, sadly died in hospital after his organs failed in August 2021, just two months before he was due to celebrate his 18th birthday.
Kai had additional support needs and spent the last months of his life in a wheelchair. He is survived by his sister Natasha Greig.
A year on from his untimely passing, Kai’s memory has been honoured with a brand-new rainbow-coloured bench at Keith Grammar.
The additional support for needs (ASN) department at the school raised money for the bench – and a commemorative plaque located just inside the window – which were shown to his family shortly after the one-year anniversary of Kai’s death.
Emma Campbell, principal teacher of the ASN department, said: “Kai was well-known in the community and is really missed by us all.
“He was a lot of fun and was a big part of our department. He was a real character and loved singing and dancing to the likes of Disney.
“He was into rainbow colours and this was where he would sit and gossip to staff members, who he considered his friends. He was like an old wifey really!
“Unfortunately, Kai died just before his 18th birthday, shortly before he left school, so we wanted do something to remember him. It’s nice to remember all the good things he did in his life.
“His family really liked it and were touched and pleased that people were remembering him.”
Kai’s uncles and aunties, who he often stayed with in Aberdeen, visited the bench along with his sister Natasha.
