Rain weather warning for Grampian area is issued by Met Office

A yellow weather warning for rain has been issued by the Met Office for the Grampian area.

It will be in place from 8pm on Friday until 8am on Sunday.

The Met Office warning outlined: "Rain will become heavy and persistent across Scotland from the south this evening, clearing later in the night.

"Many areas will see 15-25mm, with some places, particularly higher ground of Angus, Aberdeenshire and East Highland seeing as much as 40-60mm.

"Lightning may be an additional hazard in a few places. Some disruption to transport and infrastructure is likely."

The public should expect:

  • Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer.
  • Flooding of a few homes and businesses is possible.
  • Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer.
  • Some interruption to power supplies and other services possible.
