QC Ellon Gordon open the Grade 3 cricket season with win over newcomers Aberdeen Tigers

With two out of the three grades of local cricket in Aberdeenshire back in action at the weekend, Grade 3 saw the debut of new side Aberdeen Tigers. which is made up of players from the Bangladeshi community in the area.

Tiger’s batsman Akil Mahbub recorded the first half century for the side which were bowled out for 177 as the home side QC Ellon Gordon claimed a win with 220 to get their season off to a positive start.

Dunecht stood 140 against Stoneywood Dyce’s 50.while Crathie secured an eight wicket win over 2nd Grampian who were all out for 120 at Balmoral.

2nd Mannofield won 203 for 8 over Stonehaven’s 166 and Banchory notched up 257 for 9 against the new 2nd Fraserburgh sides 80.

Grade 1 teams did not fare so well with all the action wiped out in wet weather, while Grade 2 saw wins for 3rd Aberdeen Grammar, Portcullis, Grampian. 2nd Master Blasters and 2nd Aberdeen Grammar.
