The group of students, who are at N4/5 and Higher level, experienced an interactive lesson, a tour through the building, including the debating room, and met two of our MSPs: Alexander Burnett (Conservatives) and Maggie Chapman (Greens).

Mrs van der Spoel, leader of the trip and a Modern Studies teacher, said: "We had an interesting discussion about their approach to crime, allocated money for education and how they became MSPs.

"After a quick lunch, we headed for Edinburgh Zoo, where we saw the giant pandas. This is linked in with our lessons on China. Pupils had then plenty of time to explore the rest of the Zoo, before heading home, with a pitstop at MacDonalds.

"It was a very interesting day, whereby our pupils were excellent ambassadors for The Gordon Schools."
