Public urged to help create lockdown memento through Moray: Wonderful Things

LOCAL people are being urged to contribute images for what will become a visual memento of lockdown in Moray.
Moray: Wonderful Things is a link-up between Moray Arts Development Engagement (M:ADE), ArtNorth Magazine and Projectroom2020.
The vision is to collect and document people's images to create a professional online exhibition and catalogue as a visual record of this time in history.
Members of the Moray community – of any age – are being asked to submit photographs of everyday objects that have come to represent their lockdown experience "from the mundane and everyday, to the unexpected".
Anyone interested in contributing to the digital collection is asked to provide some accompanying text.
Stacey Toner, M:ADE director, said: "Through Moray: Wonderful Things, M:ADE is hoping to capture snapshots of everyday items that have supported people through lockdown, or items that have generated new meaning because of the circumstances.
"It could be a particular book, a mug, a piece of clothing, a letter, an electrical device – whatever an individual feels encapsulates their experience over the last few months.
"For me, I have a few, but I'll likely photograph a pair of glasses. With additional on-screen time, I began to suffer headaches, so I purchased new specs to try and help – which they have.
"I hope people submit images of totally unexpected things. I'm really looking forward to working with Ian MacKay, editor of ArtNorth Magazine, to collate and showcase contributions online.
"With ambitions to create an accompanying catalogue, we hope that Moray: Wonderful Things becomes a tangible and visual representation of the Covid-19 pandemic for members of the community to keep and share in the future.
"We are looking forward to receiving your images."
The deadline for submissions is July 24. Completed submission forms and j.peg images should be emailed to stacey@morayartsdevelopmentengagement.org.
The online exhibition and catalogue is scheduled to go live in August.
