ABERCHIRDER and District Men’s Shed (ADMS) will hold an open day this weekend at which Banffshire's Lord Lieutenant will present members with the Queens Award for Voluntary Services.

The presentation will take place at 12.30pm on Saturday, August 21, when representatives from ADMS will receive the award crystal and certificate from Andrew Simpson, Lord Lieutenant of Banffshire.

The event will be open to the public from noon.

Burgers, stovies, tea and coffee, cake and biscuits will be provided free of charge after the presentation and the community will have the opportunity to look around the group's refurbished Shed.

The Shed event will run alongside the popular Foggie Neuk Farmers and Producers Market which will be taking place in the Square.

ADMS, formed in 2016, was originally named as a recipient of the prestigious award back in June.

Two volunteers from the group will attend a garden party at Holyroodhouse Palace in July next year.

The group also picked up the Scottish's Men's Shed of the Year Award back in 2019.

ADMS provides a place for men to meet socially, offers computer and wood and metal-working facilities, as well as playing an active role helping others in the local community.
