A 10-day food and drink festival starts tomorrow featuring venues the length and breadth of Aberdeenshire.

The Provenance Festival promises unique opportunities to get behind the scenes and hear first-hand the stories behind iconic products from the people who make them.

Amongst the experiences on offer this year are tours around Brewdog's HQ in Ellon.

'A Cuppa With Bill Dean' involves a tour around the nationally famous Dean’s of Huntly shortbread factory.

While 'A Rare Pair' is a whisky and cheese tasting session at Glen Garioch distillery in Oldmeldrum.

Then there's also the chance to find out exactly how bees make honey at the Glen Tanar Estate in Aboyne.

'Awesomelisciousness' is a new word which has been coined for what will be available to taste at The Soo's Lug, the piggery-smokery in Alford.

On top of that, you can discover how a coo turns hay into the highest quality beef during the 'Farm to Fork Walk' at Louise’s Farm Kitchen in Lumphanan.

Meanwhile, up at Rosehearty there's the 'Wellies, Waves and Walter' tour. This involves a tour on a farm trailer through the fields and down to the seashore, then a tasting session of Walter Gregor's tonic waters and summerhouse drinks.

The Provenance Festival, which is running from Friday to Sunday, October 9, involves over 25 widely different experiences and has been organised by Opportunity North East.

It is also being supported by Aberdeenshire Council and VisitAberdeenshire.
