A GRAND Gathering was held at Inverurie's West church centre this week.

The North-east Guilds and Northern Isles presbytery attracted attendees from all over and a variety of workshops made it a stimulating and thought-provoking day.

Guest speaker was the Rev Neil Meyer from Kintore and national convenor Helen Eckford and general secretary Karen Gillon also addressed the gathering.

Rev Meyer took his audience on a remarkable journey.

A year ago he and daughter Christine walked the ancient pilgrimage, Camino de Santiago in northen Spain where the remnants of St Jude, the Great are reputed to lie.

Neil and Christine found it challenging, both physically and mentally.

He said: "We found it inspirational and we made many new friends."

Neil has brought home an inspiration from Spain -to walk his Kintore parish in August.

He added "On the pilgimage there was plenty of time - and the space - to do some serious thinking

"The spiritual life doesn't always give you answers but will open ones self to new ways."

The talk was followed by a tricky quiz on sayings old and new and about change, wine gums were given as prizes.

The theme of old and new was also reflected in the selection of hymns with guiding words on Starting Anew.
