An extra 290 council staff are now based at home in the wake of the coronavirus crisis.

Speaking after the meeting earlier today of Moray Council's Emergency Cabinet, cllr Donald Gatt said: "All council employees deserve praise for their efforts and flexibility in providing services during the COVID emergency, in particular the ICT department.

"There is now the capacity for over 600 devices to access the council network and further hardware will be rolled out.

"A significant amount of equipment has also been loaned to families to enable distance learning.

"The Head of Education advised that 331 laptops, 72 ipads and 30 wifi dongles have been issued to children and families across Moray, with new requests coming in daily."

Cllr Gatt (Keith and Cullen / Conservative) added: "This will go some way to ensuring that children get education and support, which is vital to their future, during these unprecedented times."
