The pool at Inveurrie has been closed since November

Residents of Inverurie and the surrounding area including dozens of youngsters with swimming lessons which have been cancelled may finally have a date for the community pool to reopen.

Back in November, Live Life Aberdeenshire announced a three week closure to deal with issues noted at the pool regarding the tiles.

But with that time period now having come and gone, locals have questioned what is holding up the pools reopening and why it has taken so long.

last week a Live Life Aberdeenshire spokesperson said: “The contractor is finalising their investigations into the cause of the tiling failure at the Inverurie Community Campus swimming pool along with their proposals and timescales for the necessary repair works.

"We understand the frustration caused by the loss of the swimming pool since its closure on November 27 last year, however our over-riding priority since has been to ensure confidence that the cause was understood and that the repairs are comprehensive. "

And in a new update today added: "This week the contractor will be removing further tiles from the main pool, but will commence retiling next week, with key dates as follows -

"Re-tiling and grouting: February 5-9.

"Adhesive and grout curing period: February 10 to March 1.

"Sparkle and hygiene clean: February 26 to March 1.

"Refill pool: March 2-6.

"Temperature and chemistry checks: March 7-8.

"Re-open pool to the public: March 8-11.

"Both the learner pool and the warm water pool will also be drained, and the tiling tested purely as a precautionary measure.

"The learner pool will be checked next week with a date yet to be confirmed to drain and test the warm water pool."
