The latest recruit to the postal service in Alford is bringing a smile to the faces of young and old as he documents his travels around the town.

In recent weeks dozens of locals have put up messages of support for key workers, including post office staff in windows and shops to say thank you.

A spokesman for the local Royal Mail staff said: "Alford Posties would like to thank the local community for their support and appreciation over the past month.

"All the posters in your windows and chalk drawings on the pavements really do make our day."

They added: "We also have a new recruit helping us just now, Wee Dave.

"He is helping in the village and also out and about on the rural routes.

"If you see him, say hi."
