Mhairi's on Seafield Street was nominated for the north-east Hair Salon of the Year prize at this year's Scottish Hair and Beauty Awards.

Owner Mhairi Flett, who has had the salon for the last nine years, joined top industry professionals from around the country at the awards ceremony in Glasgow and was delighted to win as Salon of the Year.

Mhairi said: "I am really chuffed with our award and it's good to be recognised.

"It's still a bit of a shock that we won to be honest, because there were a lot of bigger salons in the category and we're just a small salon, in a small town, so we thought that as a little salon we wouldn't stand a chance of winning, but it just goes to show that you can be noticed.

"We're really pleased we won."

The Scottish Hair and Beauty Awards are organised by Creative Oceanic but are voted for by the public, who nominated their favourite salons and go-to professionals.

The awards seek to celebrate the growth of the industry and recognise the achievements of the individuals working within it.

Mhairi added: "It still feels a bit unbelievable that we really won.

"I'm so thankful for our clients for voting for us and for all of the support that we get from them, especially over the last few years.

"A lot has changed but we're still kept busy and lots of people are still coming back, which is really good and it's great to be recognised."
