On Monday, December 12, farmers are invited to attend a North East Rural Crime Event.

A police spokesperson said: "Raising awareness about the steps farmers can take to protect their property is vitally important to tackle crime.

"With the increasing threat by organised crime groups, we want to ensure those who farm and look after our countryside have the skills and knowledge to keep their working environment safe."

NFU Scotland members should have already received their invites, but the event is open to all farmers across the north-east.

The free event will be held at Gray Farms, Station Yard, Roseacre Street, Portsoy, AB45 2QX and opens at 9.30am for a 10am start.
