Police in the north-east have reminded drivers to ensure their vehicles are covered by valid insurance.

It comes after three uninsured vehicles were removed from Turriff's roads in a 24-hour period.

Drivers found to be breaking the law face points, fines and having their vehicle seized and potentially crushed.

PC Chris Bain of Turriff said “Ensuring the safety of road users in and around the Turriff area is a priority for local officers.

"One way in which we are tackling ongoing issues is by taking uninsured vehicles off the road and dealing with drivers appropriately.

"I wish to reassure local residents that any concerns raised regarding road safety will be dealt with robustly.”
