SANTA’S Christmas trip around Keith has raised funds for two worthy local causes.

Father Christmas was given a tractor tour of the town in the week leading up to the big day, heading out at 6pm from Tuesday, December 20, until Friday, December 23, for around two and a half hours a night.

Youngsters from right across the area were given the chance to see Santa, who was being pulled along behind Callum Stuart’s tractor.

In return, many on-lookers dropped money into a bucket – with funds being split 50-50 between Keith Christmas Lights and Keith In Flower.

“It was brilliant and we were really well received,” Callum said.

“We raised money for the lights and Keith In Flower but even if we hadn’t raised a penny it was worth doing to see their faces.

"We went by a few old folks homes and seeing their faces was great.

“Friday was the busiest night as we had loads of kids and then went in by the pub en route home!

"We had three nights last year but we were out a bit late so we split it into four this time.

“We don’t have an exact figure on how much we have raised but it will be enough to keep the lights on for another year.

“Thank you to all the volunteers that turned out to help.”
