AN INSPIRING paralympic hero visited the Huntly Nordic and Outdoors centre earlier this month.
Scott James Meenagh, in 2018 Britain's first paralympic nordic skier in more than 20 years, took home the silver medal at this year's World Para Nordic Skiiing Championships.
Taking the honour made him the first British athlete to win a medal at the event.
Visiting the Huntly Nordic centre, Scott was greeted by top staff from Live Life Outdoors Aberdeenshire and Aberdeenshire Council.
During the celebration he presented Huntly Nordic with a framed vest, symbolising his support.
The vest was received on behalf of Aberdeenshire Council by chief executive Jim Savege, along with director of education Laurence Findlay and local councillor Gwyneth Petrie.
Following the meeting, Mr Savege said: “Great to meet with Scott Meenagh today – inspiring to talk about his achievements and ambitions.
"Huge thanks to him for visiting us in Huntly and deservedly adding to our wall of fame which I know will inspire and motivate many."
Participants of the Junior Development Squad and the British Nordic Development Squad were also present during Scott's visit.
An Life Live Aberdeenshire spokesperson said the visit: "brought immeasurable value to the Nordic Centre Instructors and wider team, by offering support and guidance in Para Nordic delivery.
"All the while being a peer for many young participants.
"His dedication and passion for the sport have made him an exceptional ambassador for Live Life Outdoors Aberdeenshire, and his presence at the centre has been a source of inspiration for all."
Scott's bib now has pride of place on the “wall of fame” at Huntly Nordic Centre.
"We stand in admiration of Scott's remarkable achievements and the profound motivation he instils in everyone he encounters," head of Live Life Aberdeenshire Avril Nicol said.
