BUCKIE Classic Car Show was described as a “fantastic day” by one of the event’s organisers, John Clark.

The event, which took place at Gordon Linzee Park on Sunday, attracted a crowd into the thousands – with more than 500 classic cars from 12 car clubs turning up, alongside 24 motorbikes.

“It was an absolutely fantastic day and a really good show,” Mr Clark said. “It was buzzing from around 10am until 4.30pm and everyone had a fine time.

“Everyone came and left with a big smile, there was no hassle on the day. All the Covid blues were washed aside. The trade stands were busy and the charities did well.

"The amount of positive comments we got was amazing.”

The event was opened by Moray Council’s chief executive Roddy Burns – who attended with his wife and daughter. He unveiled a car that was restored by John Clark from last year.

The Show and Shine event was won by a 1985 Escort RS Turbo, with a Lotus Carlton and Ford Focus RS500 proving to be popular.

The furthest travelled car was a 1951 Land Rover, which came from Manchester.

Mr Clark added: “We don’t charge people to get in and us not charging people is reflected in the prices traders charge.

“We don’t charge traders a fee to come in but some were donating £100 so we were chuffed to bits with it.

“The committee would like to thank Moray Council, PC Brian Mill, vehicle entrants, stall holders and members of the public.

“We learn from each show so hopefully next year will be even better.”
