PICTURES: Huntly Nordic Ski Centre offers a wide range of activities after major revamp completion
Investment in outdoor activity provision across Aberdeenshire has seen the revamp of the slope at Alford Ski Centre, Huntly Nordic and Outdoor Centre slope, in addition to the redevelopment and upgrade of Sir Arthur Grant residential centre at Monymusk.
On Tuesday at Huntly, the formal reopening took place, following works which started back in October last year in several phases and included the stripping and resurfacing of the ski hill to expand its life and offer more activities on site.
Susi McLarty. Outdoor and Adventurous Activity Team Leader at Aberdeenshire Council said: “Aberdeenshire Councils investment supports the life-long benefits outdoor activities and programmes can have on our communities Health and Wellbeing, resilience, pathways and partnerships. The investment at Huntly Nordic Centre will see the further development of programmes such as Para Nordic, ASN, Junior Development Squad, in addition to enabling the ongoing support to families with this fantastic party venue.”
Last week saw volunteers helping with tree re-planting of the non-native trees felled at the tail end of 2023 which were falling down and unsafe due the wind in addition to having rot.
Events continue during the holidays with a Beginners Ski Camp, Playstation (Skiing, Tubing and Orienteering) and Improvers Roller Skiing - all of which can be booked through Live Life Aberdeenshire App or the Website.
