FINDOCHTY added a bit of sparkle to the festive season with the switching on of the community's Christmas lights.

A "fantastic turnout" saw the village get into the festive spirit with an event in the town hall followed by a healthy dose of carols.

Findochty Christmas lights committee secretary Ashleigh Campbell said that the day's success was thanks to the community working together.

Ashleigh said: "We're excited to say that the event had a fantastic turnout and brought the community together.

"The children singing was superb. We all worked closely with the Findochty Men's Shed and a local farmer to instal the lights.

"Working together as a newly formed committee really shows the importance of community spirit.

"After the sing-along switch on, we offered refreshments and would especially like to thank Walkers Shortbread for generously donating biscuits for everyone's tea and coffee.

"We are planning a fundraising drive to purchase new lights and keep Findochty lit up at Christmas for years to come.

"We aim to continue our fantastic work with the community and its groups."
