Inverurie's Burn Lane area welcomed an eclectic mix of vintage and modern classic cars and bikes on Sunday morning for the return of the Drive for June fundraiser for Dementia UK which is organised by Fennel owner Bill Bird.

Held in tribute to his late mother June, Bill explained: "A few years back a group of us got to thinking about Absent Friends and decided to do some remembering by taking a drive along the highways and byways where those fondly thought of once accompanied us.

"It soon became clear that many enthusiastic drivers and riders were of the same mind and so we put together an informal plan to get together, with appropriate vehicles, to take a run out where once we had the company of those now no longer with us. "

From AC Cobra's, Mustangs and even VW Beetles through to Ferarri, Porsche and Lotus models there were admiring looks from the crowd who joined in the event.

Along with the ever popular food provision, which drivers who attend the weekly V8 breakfasts at the restaurant travel for, there was a visit from Scottish Fire and Rescue who attended with one of the local units from the station which is located just around the corners and which saw young and old looking over the equipment and of course sitting in the coveted crew seats.

Bill said: "Well did mum proud and she would have had the best time today, the atmosphere was amazing and the mix of cars and ‘bikes on display just outstanding!

"Thanks go to everyone who helped including Andrew Legg and the crew from Inverurie Fire Service, what a hit the engine was!

"Most of all thank you to our dear regular visitors who make all this worthwhile for bringing your machines, for your donations and for getting involved, thank you!

"The great news is we raised our target of £1000 and a little bit more - the page is still open for anyone who was there or wants to help at
