The 20th anniversary of Banffshire Partnership's Dial-A-Bus service was celebrated with a garden party at the Boyndie Visitor Centre.

The community bus provides a vital lifeline for hundreds of people in the area.

It is available to all ages who do not have a car or easy access to public transport.

It offers a door-to-door service giving people a choice of towns and supermarkets to travel to. For those that have a One Scotland bus pass the service is free.

A small donation is asked for to help with the maintenance and replacement of the buses.

It is available to people in all the communities in the Banffshire area from Portsoy, down the coast to Pennan and inland to the rural villages.

Towns its five buses travel to include Fraserburgh, Inverurie, Elgin and local runs to Banff and Turriff.

It also has further excursions to places like Inverness and Brodie Countryfare.

It is run by a team which is a mixture of staff and volunteers.

Minibus Driver Awareness Training (MiDAS) and passenger assistant/escort training is provided. Four of the minibuses can be hired by community groups.

People who use the service, supporters and local dignitaries were all invited to the garden party on Monday.

They were welcomed by Banffshire Partnership CEO Duncan Leece who introduced special guest Lord Lieutenant of Banffshire Andrew Simpson.

He read out a letter he received from His Majesty The King who sent his best wishes for the garden party and continued success for the future of the service.

A celebratory cake which was shaped like one of the buses was cut by the passenger who has used the service from the very start Alice Tevendale.

The attendees were then able to enjoy food and refreshments throughout the afternoon.

Entertainment was provided by Beyond Boyndie music group and Deveron FM broadcasted live from the event.
