A PHENOMENAL trade was witnessed for all classes of finished cows at Thainstone in the latest sale of cast cows selling to an average £1678.83 and feeding cows averaging £1265.90 with an overall sale average of £1499.21.
With trade up 40p per kg and a staggering £308.89 on the year many more could have been sold to consigners benefit with more required on a weekly basis to fulfil buyer’s demand.
Beef finished cows (77) averaged £1678.83 and sold to £2210 for a 1018kg Simmental from Upper Woodside, Rothiemay.
Beef feeding cows (55) averaged £1265.90 and sold to £1650 for a 770kg Limousin Cross from Carbrotack, Cairnie.
Boning cows (six) averaged £929.16 and sold to £950 for a 554kg Red Poll.
Beef finished bulls (seven) averaged £1897.66 and sold to £2170 for a 1145kg Charolais from Burnside of Tynet, Buckie.
Beef feeding bulls (two) averaged £1400 and sold to £1410 for a 950kg Aberdeen Angus from East Fingask, Oldmeldrum

With all classes frantically bid for in the prime cattle sale buyers were left disappointed and unable to fill their orders.
Under 30 month prime bullocks (18) averaged 257.7p (-3.3p) and sold to 275p per kg (twice) firstly for a 580kg Charolais cross from Ardgathen Croft, Alford also for a 710kg Limousin cross from Kirkhill, Gartly and £2169.75 gross for a 825kg Limousin cross from Ladymill, Alford.
Prime heifers (34) averaged 263.7p and sold to 307p per kg for a 590kg Limousin cross from Stoneyhill, Keith-Hall and £1911.30 gross for a 690kg Charolais cross from Blackhillock, Millbrex.
Young bulls (eight) averaged 243.7p and sold to 274p per kg for a 755kg Limousin from Doonby, Glassel and £2544.30 gross for a 990kg Limousin from Easterside, Dunottar.
30 to 36 month heifers (two) averaged 238.1p and sold to 239p per kg and £1469.85 gross for a 615kg Blonde D’Aquitaine from Ha’, Bowermadden.
