Aberdeenshire independent food producers, Rizza's and rora dairy, have both emerged as winners in the Scotmid’s Scottish Favourites competition. This recognition celebrates their outstanding products.
Peterhead based, rora dairy, is celebrating its victory in securing a key promotional listing that will bring its Greek-Style yogurt to Scotmid stores nationwide.
Starting this week the yogurt will be featured prominently on shelves for three weeks, enticing customers to try this locally sourced product.
rora's Greek-Style yogurt stands out for its thick and creamy texture, made using organic milk and live cultures without any additives.
It is naturally high in protein, making it a healthy and delicious option enjoyed straight from the pot or as a cooking ingredient.
Head of Culture at rora dairy, Jane Mackie said: "Winning the Scotmid Scottish Favourites competition means more people in Scotland will have the chance to enjoy our pure and simple Greek-Style yogurt.
"This is the first time our limited-edition yogurt, previously available only in farm shops and delis, will be sold in a major convenience store.
"We take pride in our traditional production methods and are thrilled to offer customers across Scotland a taste of our delicious yogurt.
"We hope Scotmid customers will love it as much as we do!"
Scotmid’s Scottish Favourites competition, which aims to showcase regional products with broad appeal, selects five winning products each year. Scotland Food & Drink collaborated on this initiative to support local producers.
Jessica van Tromp, Local Sourcing Manager at Scotmid, praised the winners, saying: "Our competition celebrates local Scottish producers, and we are always impressed by the quality of products available in our country. rora's Greek-style yogurt and Rizza’s Scottish Tablet Ice Cream are both exceptional products and worthy winners."
Rizza's of Huntly, a family-run business, returns as a winner for the second time after winning with their Double Dairy Gold Ice Cream in 2022. This year, their popular Scottish Tablet Ice Cream will be available at Scotmid stores starting from June 19, expanding its reach to new regions.
Donald Morrison, Director at Rizza's, said: "Winning last year's competition allowed us to sell our ice cream throughout Scotland, and we're thrilled to do it again this year."
"We eagerly participated in the competition again and are delighted to secure a second listing, this time for our Scottish Tablet Ice Cream. We look forward to hearing what Scotmid customers think of it!".
